The world of film and the world of auction houses will collide under the bright lights this autumn. Famous actresses will become stars of the auctions that Christie's Paris branch is preparing. Angelina Jolie’s car or iconic Hermès handbags will interest a wider audience than just film buffs.
The highlight of The Exceptional Sale auction will be the Ferrari 250 GT owned by one of the most famous American actresses, Angelina Jolie, who has a penchant for fast cars. Only 353 models of the FERRARI PF PININFARINA coupe on offer were made and the one that will be auctioned on November 20th is the eleventh in the series. The estimated price of the vehicle is between EUR 600,000 and 800,000. Collectors from around the world thus have the unique opportunity to acquire not just a rare automobile, but a piece of Hollywood history.
The other star of this fall season’s Christie's auction is the legendary Jane Birkin, the muse of Jean-Louis Dumas who was the chairman of the Hermès design house. Their chance yet fateful meeting on a flight in 1983 led to the most famous handbag of all time, the Birkin bag, which was created the following year. It quickly became a status symbol, a sign of wealth and exclusivity. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Unlocking the Orange Dream: Handbags from an Important Private Collection auction will be held from October 30th to November 13th. The collection of a single collector, it contains over 200 luxury bags. Iconic models designed by Hermès such as Kelly, dedicated to another diva of film, Grace Kelly, or Constance, which Dumas named after his daughter, will be auctioned. The collection’s most sought-after piece is undoubtedly the Birkin Nuage, which comes with an estimated price tag of EUR 60 000–80 000.
