In the very heart of the beautiful Kokořínsko–Mácha Region, by the dam of the Zámecký Pond, stands the original Tubož Mill from the mid-16th century, featuring preserved milling technologies and architectural elements.
The partially timbered two-story structure is topped with a gabled roof clad in fiber cement shingles. The core of the building dates back to the second half of the 18th century. It features a timbered living room with a richly carved underframe and a timbered upper floor. On the south-facing facade opening onto the courtyard, the former milling room is lined with a traditional gallery. The house is adorned with a beautiful layered gable clad in three-colored slate. Preserved original milling elements include the mill beam, a millstone, a roller mill, and other handcrafted mechanical components.
Behind the mill lies a mature, multi-species garden with a gazebo and a smaller outbuilding. The property also includes additional preserved historical architectural elements such as a layered plank gable, artistic features (sculptures, paintings, reliefs), small religious monuments, and rock-cut chambers.
The mill is set in a picturesque natural landscape of rock formations, charming ponds, and villages featuring traditional folk architecture, just 60 km from Prague. The Kokořínsko–Mácha Region Protected Landscape Area is famous for its mysterious ravines and sandstone formations, with the most iconic being the Pokličky rock towers, which—along with Kokořín Castle—have become symbols of the region. Other nearby tourist attractions include Houska Castle, the Čertovy hlavy (Devil’s Heads) sculptures, Mácha Lake, and Bezděz Castle.
