The successful reconstruction of a historic palace on Valdštejnské Náměstí Square is reaching its peak. All 17 units are now complete, offering exceptional living in a quiet part of Malá Strana, within easy reach of Prague's architectural gems.
The sensitive reconstruction with utmost respect to the rich history of the building resulted in the creation of 17 apartments with variable layouts from studios to four-bedrooms. Spacious units on the highest floors, designed by the renowned Formafatal architectural studio, offer postcard views of Prague Castle and the St. Vitus Cathedral. The smaller apartments on the lower floors, facing the quiet romantic courtyard, were designed by the sought-after SAD studio, which also created the exclusive attic penthouse with a floor are of almost 300 sq. m., restored ceiling beams, and cutting-edge facilities. "New owners will find a fireplace, Italian travertine tiles, intelligent wiring, or underfloor heating," says Tomáš Blahuta, senior property consultant at Svoboda & Williams.
The architects were looking for solutions that could withstand being confronted with historical elements and that would add modern facilities in a historic setting. These include massive portals made of Božanov sandstone and unique glass walls of custom-made ice glass manufactured in the renowned Baxa design glassworks. The level of craftsmanship throughout is truly impressive, whether it be the handmade stucco, plaster borders, wooden window sills, designer radiators, or sophisticated lighting.
Investors were guided by the history of the building discovered in the archives and have developed it further in many distinctive details, such as in the light fixtures in the common stairwell shaped into the Libra astrological sign (one of the former owners, Albrecht of Wallenstein, was born under this sign). "All of these elements have changed the interior without disturbing their original character," says Blahuta. "Those interested can see view the quality of the craftsmanship with their own eyes during private viewings," he adds. The atmosphere of premium living can be experienced in the model apartment furnished by pieces from top Czech designers such as Dechem, Bomma, or Master & Master.
The units will be move-in ready in the fall of 2023.
